JECEI was originated to develop a brand of excellent Jewish early childhood education schools throughout North America. Accreditation is the way that JECEI has of making certain that the schools it has partnered with in a multi-year transformative change process have achieved the desired goals.
The accreditation process consists of three parts: a) a set of standards currently concretized as 14 indicators with multiple pieces of supporting evidence and b) a procedure for assessing fulfillment of these standards that centers around a visit by external validators, and c) a requirement for a school to be accredited by NAEYC or a comparable organization.
The accreditation content focuses on the whole school through three foundational elements: Reggio inspired approach, big Jewish ideas and values, and change theory.
Only those schools that have worked with JECEI for at least three years on the school transformative change are currently eligible to participate in this accreditation process.
These schools have been awarded JECEI accreditation which recognizes them for excellence in early childhood education and engaging families with young Jewish children.
